Arrangement of Lae-Lae Island Area, Collaboration between SAPPK ITB and Makassar City Government
The Architecture Study Program is supported by MBKM and the Research and Community Service Program collaborates with the City Government of Makassar to hold a Webinar and Design Competition related to the Arrangement of Lae-Lae Island based on Coastal Tourism by developing Makassar Traditional Architecture.
The webinar was held on September 23 entitled Structuring the Lae-Lae Island Area Based on Beach Tourism with speakers Dr. Naidah Naing (Makassar City Spatial Planning Expert Team), Dr. Firmansyah, IALI., IAI. (National Board of Indonesian Landscape Architects Association and Bandung Institute of Technology Lecturer), Dr Idawarni Asmal (Lecturer of Architecture at Hasanuddin University), M Roem Rakhmat, Msi. (PLT Head of Makassar City Tourism Office), and Wiwik D Pratiwi, PhD. (ITB Teaching Staff of Architecture), this event was attended by 290 participants from various regions with various professional backgrounds (students, lecturers, practitioners, community leaders, residents and local government) in Indonesia.
The competition is open to the public and students with a national scale target in collaboration with the Central Indonesian Association of Landscape Architects and the South Sulawesi Chapter of the Indonesian Association of Architects. The judges involved in this activity were Ir Ramdhan Pomanto (Mayor of Makassar), Dr. Naidah Naing, Dr. Budi Faisal, Dian Heri Sofian, MT., IALI, and Fahmyddin Tauhid, PhD., IAI. The opening of the competition was held during the Webinar from 23 September to 22 October 2021. The submission of works was carried out on 25 October 2021. And ended with the announcement of the winners after direct judging with the Mayor of Makassar on 31 October 2021.
It is hoped that fresh ideas from the residents and the creativity of the participants as well as the decisions of the jury will produce the best to contribute positive ideas, in an effort to increase beach-based tourism on Lae-Lae Island which can support economic growth in Makassar City.
